The current version of the MacTCP Token Ring Extension supports 2000 bytes MTU for both 4 Mbits/second as well as 16 Mbits/second Token Ring networks. However, for many networks, the MTU size can be larger than 2000 bytes. Customers who want to take advantage of their network's higher capacity can modify the default MTU size of the MacTCP Token Ring Extension using the MTU Tool.
How to change the default MTU size ?
----------------------------------
Launch the tool.
Open a MacTCP Token Ring Extension file using the standard file dialog.
The MTU Tool shows the current MTU size.
Set the MTU size.
Close the file to save the new MTU size.
Restart to use this new MTU size.
Note
-----
• The default MTU size is 2000 bytes.
• To avoid interoperability problems in the network environment, consult your network administrator before changing the MTU size. Other hosts/routers connected to the ring may not support this new MTU size.
